The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed title that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing chaos and insanity with equal excitement, all while presenting captivating, socially charged stories. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those qualities.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and group of personalities in each season.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of people through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our shared unconventional, ambitious approach to the television.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
