The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life away from worry.”

The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
