The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership was established to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. The project has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This endeavor will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, providing fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an official release.

Launch products are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the players come in.

Development on the RPG has been underway for about several years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to access a wider market, particularly in North America. Manufacturing will start right after the campaign, with deliveries projected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and tactical approach. Agents leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, participants select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Fights stress placement and environmental awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This mechanic is designed to reward coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Thematic Wound System

The way injuries is tracked adds a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the last stand common to many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a trauma table, risking persistent effects like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A publicly available introductory rulebook is promised in the near future. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
