Suspected Harasser Questioned: 'However Suppose I Am Madeleine?'
A individual accused with stalking Kate McCann apparently recorded her a recorded message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has persistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.
On Monday, the court was told phone records and evidence recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test during the past two years.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most publicized investigations and continues to be open.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
A separate recorded message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am she? What then? Is that not crucial for you?"
"I am not seeking money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to discover," she added.
The tribunal was informed that through emails, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a bid to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the information, advised the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.
On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will continue and I will prove my claim."
The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in December 2024.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had contacted using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be considered genuine in the time preceding the visit to that location, the county, in December 2024.
The court heard message exchanges between the two defendants, in that autumn, discussing trying to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from utensils at a eating establishment.
"We have to assert ourselves," the co-defendant told Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the visit to their home, Mrs Spragg dispatched a message which said: "We find ourselves sitting near the McCanns' home with our headlights off similar to private investigators. I had hoped to accomplish this with another person I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."
The case continues.
