Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
